The engines in Legacy/Liberty
The engines in Subaru legacy/liberty
As you know every Subaru that has been put into the global market for the world to purchase has always been a 4wd or the Awd platform with a boxer engine. from my knowledge this is the only company that has a boxer engine in their vehicles and remain relevant in the market and notorious not just for their failures but their successes as well. Not just that but have been a primary choice but a staple in the rally scene for generations creating the most notorious drivers like Conner Mccray, Ken Block, and another household name Travis Patrena.
A brief overview of the car:
The Subaru legacy was and still is a mid-size sedan and in the later years was also made into a wagon with the same chassis, and the same drivetrain as its sedan counterpart. As you know the sedan has the same horsepower numbers as the wagon but the only difference between them is their weight. If you know anything about how the weight of a car can affect its drivetrain or more specifically, the motor then you would know that a lighter vehicle has a better acceleration then a wagon because its lighter and has less mass to move. Making the sedan Subaru legacy a sporty sedan for the daily commuter that likes the H4 engine and an AWD drivetrain. While the wagon has a little more space than the sedan so this would be more affective for anyone that has a lot of friends and or a family.
Reason why the car was made:
The Subaru legacy and in Australia also known as the Subaru liberty was first made and introduced in 1989 in Japan and then mass produced in the following year in 1990. The car was made to compete in the mid-sized sedan market going against Toyota Carola and Honda accords, but Subaru did something different showing the world a different platform of vehicles with a more control on the road and capability as well off the road. By implementing a 4wd system and a capable H or Flat type engine with the choosing of an automatic or a manual gearbox the driver gets the full experience with all the power and capability it has at their disposal at all times, with the package type of users choice making this car a very capable and comfortable vehicle at all times.
